Searching acronyms in the new USPTO search tool
I SO appreciated David putting together this tool for me! This sort of string is useful for running searches through the USPTO trademark register for any acronym. For example, if you're searching NASA, you also would want to pull up any results for N A S A, NA S A, or N A SA too (you would also search the words making up the acronym in various combinations as well, naturally).
While there was a tool online for years which achieved this (put together by some unknown trademark examiner), it was recently taken down (probably because 1) it uses the old TESS language rather than RegEx and/or 2) the USPTO has made its own acronym permutation tool for internal use). Now with this new tool from David, we can properly search acronyms again without having to manually figure out all the character/space permutations! Brilliant!
